INCOME TAXES ON INDIVIDUALS
9. Rates
Individual income taxes are imposed at the rate of 25% on a resident individual taxable income that exceeds J$80,496. Nonresident individuals are subject to a 25% income tax on their total income (except as described in item 16).
10. Local Income Taxes
None.
11. Capital Gains Taxes
None (but see item 25).
12. Foreign Tax Reliefs

13. Tax Period
If the individual business or professional practice has a fiscal period that ends other than on December 31, the Commissioner may permit the profit to be reported in the calendar year in which the fiscal period ends (see item 32).
INCOME TAXES ON NONRESIDENTS
15. Liability to Tax
Nonresidents are subject to tax on all Jamaican-source income.
16. Rates
Nonresident corporations are taxed on their Jamaican-source income at the same rates as resident corporations. Nonresident individuals are taxed on their Jamaican-source income at the rate of 25%.
Income from interest, dividends, royalties, and certain rentals and technical or management fees is subject to income tax at 33.33% in the case of persons other than individuals, or 25% in the case of individuals, except where rates under a double taxation treaty are less (see item 17 for applicable treaty rates).
17. Withholding Tax Rates
Withholding tax is deducted at source from payments to nonresidents except for payments of dividends out of franked income (see item 28). The rate applicable to nontreaty countries is 33.33% in the case of persons other than individuals, or 25% in the case of individuals.
19. Tax Treaties
Jamaica has tax treaties with Canada, Denmark, France, the Federal
Republic of Germany, Israel, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, theUnited States, and the Caribbean Community (except Barbados).
